Did You Know?

Meteoroids are meteorites in space, and when they enter the Earth's atmosphere, at a high velocity, or speed, and burn up, they are referred to as meteors or "shooting stars". What you find and test with our tester is a meteorite.

Helpful Hints

  • If the specimen does not test positive for nickel, it is most likely not a meteorite.
  • While approximately 95% of all meteorites contain nickel, the presence of nickel does not mean that the specimen is a meteorite.
  • Further testing by appropriate laboratories or meteorite experts is recommended for precise identification.
