Where to Find Meteorites

Some of the best places to find meteorites are large, barren grounds such as deserts and icy regions with few terrestrial rocks. Typically, meteoroids are black, so searching in areas with different color schemes is ideal to discovering these space rocks.


Areas that have warm climates like Arizona is perfect to finding meteorites! This is because these regions have a low precipitation rate, so the meteorites stay in tack. They also have very little vegetation, so it is is easy to spot the special space rocks.


Antarctica is also a great spot to discover meteorites. As the biggest desert on Earth, it is a barren, dry landscape perfect to go hunting for meteorites.

Any meteorites found in national parks belong to the federal government, so before you hunting for them, make sure you can keep them.
